

Mike grew up in Fort Wayne playing Little League baseball, joining Civil Air Patrol and participating in ROTC while attending Concordia Lutheran High School. After graduating from high school, Mike joined the United States Air Force and served for 6 years. After leaving the Air Force he returned to Fort Wayne, where he met his wife, Sally Hensley. They were married in 1967. He was employed at International Harvester (Navistar) and worked there until his retirement in 1997.
Mike had many activities that filled his time. He loved golfing, fishing, bowling and snow skiing. After his retirement, he and his wife bought a home in the country outside of Albion, IN where he kept busy gardening and cutting trails in the woods for the grandchildren to explore. Mike loved to travel, both abroad and in the U.S., and spent many years in his RV with his wife traveling the country and exploring new places.
Mike is survived by his wife of 59 years, Sally. He is also survived by his children, Nicole (Dan) Campbell, Dan (Mirjam) Brett, and Kristy (Sheldon) Byler; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. He is also survived by his sisters Judy Vogel and Nancy (Larry) Bandelier.
There will be no service. Mike's ashes will be interred at the National Cemetery in Marion, IN. Donations may be made to any Veterans charity of your choosing.
