Born on January 11, 1961, in Ontario, Canada, Maureen grew up with a heart that was always open to others. She had a natural gift for hospitality that turned strangers into friends and friends into family.
Her family moved to the United States, where she chased her dreams with quiet determination. She graduated from Warren Mott High School (Class of 1979, Warren, MI). Maureen became a flight attendant and worked for Mesaba Airlines. She eventually followed the calling of her compassionate soul and fulfilled her lifetime dream of becoming a registered nurse. She worked for the American Red Cross and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. With the empathy and gentle strength that defined her, she was always caring for others during their most vulnerable moments.
Maureen is survived by her daughter, Nicole Schilt; son-in-law, Peter Schilt; and her grandchildren, Matthew, Micah, Anna, and Abby of Carmel, IN, as well as a wide circle of friends and extended family whose lives she touched so deeply.
Maureen is preceded in death by her beloved parents and her daughter, Dannielle. She now rests in the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves behind a family who will carry her light forward, comforted by the promise that she is now home in the presence of the Lord.
Though her time on earth has ended, the warmth she spread, the comfort she gave, and the love she poured into others will continue to echo in the lives she shaped. She taught us all how to welcome others and how to love without reservation.
A Celebration of Life is being planned. Neptune Society has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
