Marion Kay Joiner

Marion “Kay” (Richman) Joiner, 71, of Fairmount, passed away to the arms of her Savior, Jesus, at 12:58 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Marion Health in Marion, Indiana. Born on July 3, 1953, in Anderson, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Robert Charles and Esther Jane (Wheeler) Richman. Kay married SSgt Ray Anthony Joiner, USAF (Ret.) on June 16, 1992, but sadly, he preceded her in death on November 6, 1995. In her later years, she found companionship with David Kansas Moy, who passed away in 2015.

Kay was a proud member of the inaugural graduating class of Madison-Grant High School in Fairmount, Indiana, in 1971. Her journey in healthcare began as a nurse aide, and through her unwavering determination, she earned her degree in nursing from Indiana University Kokomo, eventually becoming a Registered Nurse. For many years, she dedicated herself to caring for patients in Grant County before embracing the adventure of being a traveling nurse, which led her to settle in Meadview, Arizona, and later in Las Vegas, Nevada. A devoted cat lover, Kay cherished her feline companion, Frankie, and had a special fondness for Maine Coon cats. She will be fondly remembered for her spirited and fearless nature, as well as her unwavering willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need.

In 2016, she made the decision to return to Indiana to be closer to her family. She is remembered fondly by her sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Gordon Smith of Jonesboro, IN. Her legacy continues through her nephew Ryan and his wife Justina Smith from Oregon, OH, along with their children Gracelyn and Ezekiel. Additionally, her niece Holly Smith from Fairmount and her grandnephews Jacob and Isaiah Wagner cherish her memory. She is also remembered fondly by her dear friends, Ender and Sheila Yigit; Fairmount as well as Conrad (Melissa Bailey) Selcer from Tuscaloosa, AL.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A graveside service will take place at a later date at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

Neptune Society has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
