Louis Edward Sr., age 92, passed on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 in Hammond, Indiana. He was born November 20th, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to Lessie and Albert Edwards. Louis was raised in Chicago and attended Burke Elementary School and Englewood High School and Carver High School before enlisting into the Army. He served as a mechanic in the Army Air Core which is known today as the U.S. Air Force. He married Bertha, his high school sweet heart, and had two children.
Louis was a career mechanic for the United States Postal Service, at the main post office on Canal and Van Buren, where he worked 35 years. He enjoyed building model airplanes, watching football, attending church, and being with family and friends. He was a member and past president of the Knights of Peter Claver, Court #154, and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Thaddeus Church. His family will always remember him as a kind, loving person who willingly helped anyone who crossed his path.
