Lawrence William Carlin

Lawrence William (Bud) Carlin Jr., 86, of Carmel, Indiana passed away at Ascension St. Vincent Carmel on Friday, January 19, 2024. He was born in Staten Island, New York on June 24, 1937, to Lawrence William Carlin Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Corrigan) Carlin.

Bud started his education at Sacred Heart Elementary School before attending St. Peter’s Boys High School. He attended Villanova University from 1955-1959 where he earned a BS in Economics. He was also a member of the corps of cadets for NROTC and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps upon graduation. While at his beloved Villanova, he met the love of his life, Virginia Dassori.

Bud and Virginia were married December 19, 1959, and raised a family over four states before settling in Carmel, Indiana, in 1986. He was a proud member of the Lions Club in Georgia, before joining the Knights of Columbus at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. He spent his career in the newspaper industry as a salesman travelling all over North and South America, finishing his work life at Alcoa.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of sixty-four years, Virginia; his children, Scott (Angela) Carlin, Samantha (Carl) Elliott, Stephen (Rebecca) Carlin, and Sean (Johanna) Carlin; three sisters, Judith Franzrab, Eileen (Rick) Pukala, and Donna (Harry) Capers; eight grandchildren, Ashley, Hannah, Drew, Robert, Jake, Michael, Landon, and Gage; and one great-granddaughter, Emma.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Mary; and two brothers, Denis Carlin and Gene Carlin.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Monday, January 29th, 10:30, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel, Indiana. Visitation will start at 9:30 AM with a luncheon after the funeral mass.

Graveside service with military honors will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens- 9700 Allisonville Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46250.
