Kumiko Baire, 84, of Bainbridge, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on March 31, 2023. She was born November 13, 1938, in Nagasaki (Matsuura), Japan to Kikue and Yasunasa Urakawa.
In 1961, she met and married her husband, Ronald Baire. They lived in several places from Japan, Virginia, California, Hawaii and finally settled in Bainbridge in the 1970's. Kumiko was a homemaker, mother to all, avid crafter, expert crocheter, seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed her family, the ocean, cooking (until she retired), and playing slot machines.
Ronald and Kumiko share three children: Greg Baire (Belinda), Gary Baire (Sandy) and Delia McCalister; eight grandchildren, Richelle Williams (Jonathon), Justin Baire, Kayla McCalister, Kayoka Baire (Phillip Tse), Kumiko Cooley (Ty), Ashley Baire, Rosemary Baire and Ryuu Baire; five great-grandchildren, Hiro Tse, Michiko Cooley, Sophia Cooley, Penelope Williams (Keira, Taven and Kya) and Hanako Tse; she also has one brother, Heideto Urakawa.
She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. at Bainbridge Community Center, 201 North Grant Avenue, Bainbridge, Indiana 46105.
