Kent was born in Pana, Illinois, to Edmund F. Permentier and Bernice (Fowler) Permentier on September 19, 1944. He was a graduate of the Pana High School class of 1962. He was a self-employed farmer until 1983 when he began working for the United States Department of Agriculture. He worked for the USDA until his retirement as a Senior Investigator in 2010. His tenure with the USDA took him to live in Harrisburg, PA and then Indianapolis, IN. His favorite pastimes in retirement were watching sports, mowing his yard, and growing his tomatoes.
Survivors include: his daughter, Sandra Permentier, Normal, IL; his son, Scott Permentier (partner, Cliff Pedersen), Wheaton, IL ; sisters, Loretta Irons (husband, Richard) Lakewood Ranch, FL, and Janice Miller, Bradenton, FL; cousin Connie (husband, Floyd) Virden, Nokomis, IL; cousin Fran Furner, KY; and loyal friends, Connie and Candice Williams, Indianapolis, IN.
He married Bette (Koontz) Harlow and they later divorced.
He later married Florence “Eppie” Hubbs, who passed away in 2003.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, William Miller.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at 11:00 at the Metro Church of Christ, 5565 Moller Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46254.
Graveside services will be held at Rosamond Grove Cemetery on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11:00.
