Judith Ostrander Noggle

Judy was born in 1943 in Yonkers, NY, to Van and Dorothea Ostrander while her brother, David Ostrander, waited at home. With her parents, she lived in MO, WA, NY, and CA. In her early life, she lived in IA, KS, NE, and IN. After raising and educating her children Jodi and Joel, Judy declared her independence, moving to AZ, CA, TX, and IN – 11 states and 27 moves in all.

Judy graduated from Pasadena High School and Pasadena City College in Nursing—both graduations were in the Rose Bowl. She completed her Bachelor’s in General Science at Regents College-State University of New York (SUNY) Albany. She completed her Master’s in Social Work at San Diego State University in 1996 in her 50s.

Judy was a perennial student who loved to learn along with her classmates. She appreciated all the help she received throughout her educational journey, which seemed to last forever. In nursing, she was privileged to be involved in Home Health Care and Hospice at the beginning of 1976, advancing to Quality Resource Management, then to administration, and finally to consulting in 2007. For Judy, nursing was a rewarding calling. After retiring from nursing, she enjoyed teaching Introduction to Sociology and Family Relations as an adjunct professor at Ivy Tech.

Spending time with family and friends brought Judy great joy. She also enjoyed traveling and exploring the globe via road, plane, bus, train, river, and cruise ships. She had a thirst for learning about other people, culture, and nature. She wanted to leave a positive mark on the people and places she visited. She was an avid reader and listened to audiobooks as she puttered around the house, walked her dog, and drove.

Judy’s memories are treasured by: daughter Jodi Walton (daughter- in-love Diane Walton), son Joel Walton (daughter-in-love Jennifer), granddaughter Kaitlin Riddle (grandson-in-love Jonathan), grandson Bailey Walton (grandson-in-love Devan Jenkins), great-grandsons Conrad and Fletcher Riddle. Nieces Valerie Ostrander Leonard (Dayo), Marilyn Ostrander Robinson (Stuart), and Kelley Ostrander (Colby); nephews Ethan Ostrander (Stephanie) and Cody Ostrander; great-nieces Hazel Ostrander, Thea and Frances Byers-Ostrander; great-nephews Ben Leonard (Stone) and Van Leonard; step-sons Mathew Noggle (Christine), Robert Noggle (Karen); step-daughters Angela Noggle Horn (Nickolas), and Amy Noggle; grandchildren: Zach and Riley Noggle; Miles, Hayes, and Jones Noggle; Nathan and Alex Horn; Brandon and Bridgett Noggle; and great-granddaughter Ava Kate Noggle.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Richard Ostrander and David Ostrander, and the love of her life, James Noggle.

In addition to her family, Judy appreciates all the love, guidance, and enrichment of her life by her extended family Aunt Ruth Ostrander, Jeanne Daggett, Susan Worboys, and Marie Ostrander; and her adopted family of friends Sharon Fredrichs, Patricia Wolfla, Carol Patrick, Kathleen Fletcher, John and Sally Mearns, Debbie Oliver, and Evelyn Llewellyn. Honorary pallbearers: Sharon Fredrichs, Jeannie Daggett, Patricia Wolfla, Robb Walker, Colleen Patrick, and Marianne Scott.

Judy’s life will be celebrated at Grace Episcopal Church, 300 S Madison St, Muncie, IN on Saturday, September 5th at noon.
