Jerry Favors, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016, one week after Easter, the joyous celebration of the resurrection of his Savior. What better time to assure his family of his destination! He was baptized with his grandmother, Zoe Baker of Eaton, IN (he really was her favorite grandson!). Jerry was born on a farm near Granville, IN on January 4, 1935. From the age of six, he was raised by his grandparents, Zoe and Orville Baker. His childhood was wonderful. He graduated from DeSoto High School where he played basketball, giving him a lifelong love of the sport. He attended IU/PUI trade school of drafting, Indy. He served in the United States Army for two years, stationed in Toole, France with the 507th Engineer Division. He married the love of his life, Linda (Loughmiller) Favors on May 25, 1957. Their family and God were always first in their lives. They loved traveling, camping and spending time together. He was a whiz at jigsaw and crossword puzzles and lived the "simple life”, residing in Eaton most of his married life. He enjoyed his thirty-two years at Westinghouse/ABB as a crane operator. Many times he worked twelve hour days, seven days a week. He like his lunch break euchre buddies and liked all his co-workers. After retirement he and Linda Jived part-time in Jamestown, Kentucky on the Cumberland River in their cabin in the woods. He is survived by his wife of almost Sixty years, Linda; his two daughters, Lora L. Bales of Dunkirk and Valerie L. Nottingham of Albany; four grandsons, Jesse L. Bales and Jacob A. Bales of Dunkirk and Wesley K. Nottingham (wife, Johana} and Christopher L. Nottingham; great grandchildren, Juliana and Adriana Nottingham,, Lucas, Kameron and Jaxon Nottingham, Muncie; nephew, Joey Loughmiller; nieces, Lisa Mock (Mark}, Cindy Saferlght (Jim} and Lynn Pike (Mark}; great-nephews, Dillon, Seth and Jaron; great-nieces, Olivia, Meredith and Jennifer and Emily and Julia Loughmiller; sister-In-law, Bonnie Lamb; brother-in-law, Joe Laughmiller (Karen) and William Harris (Wanda); special aunt, Helen House, Warren; cousins, Mike Baker (Cindy), Jim House (Sandy), Darrell House, Merrell House and Tony House and June Lye of Eaton; uncle, Phil Baker. He was preceded in death by his only beloved son, Brett Allen; his grandparents, Zoe and Orville Baker; his mother and father, Thelma Smith & Alva Favors; great-granddaughter, Aliceia Nottingham; nephews, Brian Catron, Jerry Kameron Catron and Eric Saferight; sister-in-law, Nina Lee (Loughmiller) Harris. A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 17, 2016 at First Church of God of Eaton with Pastor Andy Denniston officiating. Memorial may be made to the Benevolent Fund at the First Church of God of Eaton.
