James Eugene Spears

James E. Spears, age 86, peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at home in Greenwood, Indiana. He was born August 16,1938 to Ralph and Catherine (Ficklin) Spears in Indianapolis. He was the first born of ten children.

A U.S. Army Veteran, Jim retired from Allison Gas Turbine, in Indianapolis, Indiana, after thirty-one years of service.

He is survived by his wife and love of his life of twenty-eight years, Janice A. Spears. They greatly enjoyed twenty-six years sharing fun in their Florida home with friends and family. Also surviving are his children, Debbie (Fred) Rager, Jimmy (Diane) Spears, Tony (Missy) Spears and Tammy (Keith) Cooper. He has two step-daughters (and spouses) and a step-son (and wife) who were his caregivers. He also leaves behind his brother Ralph (Barbara) Spears and brother Mike Spears, and two sisters Audrey Barton and Sue Tucker, and multiple grand and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

A Memorial Service for family and close friends will be on May 3, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Grand Victorian Assisted Living Center, 2339 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana 46143.

Interment will take place at a later date at Crown Hill National Cemetery, 725 West 42nd Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. Neptune Society has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
