

James (Jim) Moore, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away at home on January 29, 2026. He was born on July 13, 1931, in Indianapolis and spent his childhood growing up on the south side of the city he called home his entire life.
Jim graduated from Southport High School in 1949. Shortly thereafter, he began a long and dedicated career with Indianapolis Power and Light, where he worked for 46 years before retiring.
A man of deep commitment and community involvement, Jim was an active member of the Southport Masonic Lodge #270, the Indianapolis Scottish Rite, the Murat Shrine, American Legion Post #355, and Beech Grove VFW Post #5626. He also enjoyed fellowship through his memberships in the Beech Grove Eagles, the Indianapolis German-American Klub, and the Indianapolis Liederkranz.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Hughes Moore, with whom he shared many devoted years of marriage.
He is survived by his three children, Dan Moore, Julie Nettles, and Beth Borders, as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Community Hospice for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Jim in his final days.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Sunday, March 8, from 1:00–5:00 p.m. at American Legion Post #355, located at 7610 S. Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46217.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s honor to the Murat Shrine Transportation Fund.
