Jack served his country with steady dedication in the US Navy and the Air Force Reserve, answering duty with quiet resolve and a deep respect for the responsibilities entrusted to him. He also served with professionalism and commitment as a Highway Patrol Officer with the California Highway Patrol, bringing the same disciplined care to his work and to the people and communities he encountered.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jo Underwood; his son, James Underwood; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Underwood; his son, Jack Underwood; his daughter, Lynn Porter; and three brothers.
