Howard L Williams

Howard L. Williams passed away on August 14, 2017, after a five-year battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). He was 71 years old. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dee Ann (Stohler) Williams, son Grant (Victoria) Williams of Pittsboro, daughter Kimberly (Harold) Cleaver of Noblesville, brother Wayne (Peggy) Williams of Frankfort, and sister Virginia (Bob) Nibarger of Cornelius, North Carolina. He also had five very much-loved grandchildren, Alexa, Michael and Noah Williams, Grayden and Kate Beach, two step-grandsons, Logan and Ethan Robbins, and a wonderful extended family of Williamses, Conrads and Stohlers. Howard was born on March 5, 1946, in Anderson, Indiana to Montrue and Johnny Williams. He graduated from Markleville High School in 1964, where he was active in basketball, track, cross country, and drama. In 1969, he graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a degree in math and biology. After college, he spent four years in the United States Navy, serving in Pensacola, Florida, Edzell, Scotland, and Norfolk, Virginia. Upon returning from the military, he worked for General Motors for thirty-seven years at Delco Remy and Magnequench, followed by consulting work for two years. Howard was an avid fisherman, fly tier, rod maker, and volunteer. He enjoyed volunteering at Anderson St Vincent and his church, where he ushered, cooked, washed dishes, and served on committees. He was an active and dedicated member of First United Methodist Church. His other love was his family and grandchildren. Their activities provided him many hours of enjoyment. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 19th at Anderson First United Methodist Church at 2 pm. Visitation will be prior to the memorial service from noon to 2 pm.
