Harold Eugene Matheny

Harold E. Matheny, 70, Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on May 12, 2018. He was born to John and Lois Matheny on November 22, 1947 in Peoria, Illinois. Harold joined the U.S. Navy in 1964 and was a Vietnam veteran. He worked for Colonial Bakery in Peoria and retired with Holsum Bakery in Fort Wayne. Harold was a loving husband, dad, and granddad. He will be missed and will hold a special place in our hearts. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ruth (Bufford) Matheny, his daughter, Amber Matheny, his sisters, Linda Matheny and Alice Smith, and his brother, Jerry Matheny. He is survived by his three daughters, Dawn Hirner (Lenny), Farmington, Illinois, Jodi Matheny, Peoria, Illinois, and Laura Matheny, Fort Wayne, Indiana; his six grandchildren, Elizabeth Matheny, Farmington, Illinois, Airyn Martin, Peoria, Illinois, Hannah Hirner, Farmington, Illinois, Jeremy Martin (Christa), Norfolk, Virginia, Michael Hirner, Farmington, Illinois, and Jeanine Martin, Marquette Heights; his great-granddaugter, Breelynn Hirner; and Sherman Matheny of East Peoria, Karen Ellis (John) of Sunnyland, Larry Matheny (Donna) of Bartonville, Peggy Trick (Nelson) of Oklahoma City, Roger Matheny (Jean) of Creve Coeur, and Roger Matheny (Nancy) of East Peoria. His ashes will be laid to rest at Swan Lake Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois on Friday August 24 at 1 P.M. with full military honors.
