Edward G Petzinger

Edward “Ed” Petzinger (November 28, 1939 — July 30, 2026) passed away peacefully at age 86. We celebrate a life well lived, a man who brought warmth, wit, and steady kindness to every room he entered. Ed’s presence brightened ordinary days and left lasting memories for family, friends, and neighbors.

Life and legacy:

Ed’s 86 years were marked by quiet joy, generosity, and curiosity. Known affectionately as the “Mayor” of the neighborhood, he took daily walks with one of his many dogs, which was disguised as exercise, when we all knew it was an opportunity to “shoot the breeze” with neighbors. He approached life with a ready smile, gentle humor, and always made time for the people he loved.

Work and passions:

A dependable and skilled heavy equipment mechanic, Ed worked with pride throughout his career and he maintained his membership in Local 701 for more than 50 years. In retirement, he found satisfaction in practical projects such as tinkering in the garage, mowing the lawn, and helping neighbors. He was an active member of the Beecher Sportsman’s Club for over 30 years, where he volunteered at Fish Frys and the annual July 3rd beer tent. Whether helping a neighbor or enjoying time with family, Ed celebrated life in meaningful, everyday ways.

Children: Rachel Petzinger (Dean Sammy), Alyssa Chambers, Hope Petzinger

Grandchildren: Aaron Chambers, Dixie Petzinger

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward Petzinger and Marjorie Caillouette Petzinger, and his sister, Barbara Kacena.

Service and memorials:

A celebration of Ed’s remarkable life will be held at a later date. The family extends their gratitude to all who have offered support during this time.

Ed’s family and friends were the center of his life; he treasured gatherings, stories and simple connections through conversations. His steady affection, generous small acts, and a deep appreciation for family and friendship will be fondly remembered. We celebrate the warmth he shared, the laughter he brought, and the comfort of his presence. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
