

Dora was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church. She was also a dedicated homemaker who took great pride in caring for her home and family. She carried a profound love for her birthplace and her motherland of Mexico throughout her life. Dora will be remembered for her infectious laugh, warm spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
She had a passion for cooking and drew inspiration from the cuisines of many cultures and every year at Christmas time she lovingling returned to the recipes and traditions of her Mexican heritage by gathering family together to make tamales. Dora loved baking and was especially known for her famous Christmas cut out cookies. The warmth of her kitchen, the sharing of cultural traditions, and the joy she poured into every meal created memories that will be cherished for generations. Dora also enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, lovingly making clothing and keepsakes for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed solving Sudoku puzzles and took up watercolor painting in her later years. An avid gardener, she took great pride in growing both flowers and vegetables and preserving the harvest by canning foods for her family to enjoy.
Dora is lovingly survived by her children, Sue (Bob) Jaruzel, Maria (Brad) Lewis, Margaret DeAnda (Dan Gallagher), William DeAnda, and Lydia (Rob) Riesener. She was a proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Esperanza "Pat" Carlin, Carmen Jaurequi, and Gloria Limas, as well as many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William C. DeAnda; her parents, Miguel and Enriqueta Limas; her sister, Enriqueta "Chica" (Limas) Gonzalez; and her brothers, Genaro Limas, Miguel Limas, Rodolfo Limas, and Adolfo Limas.
Honoring Dora’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life and Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2316 Coldwater Road, Flint, Michigan 48505. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442.
Dora’s love, faith, and joyful laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
