Claudette Foster Thigpen, beloved sister, aunt, and cherished member of her family, passed away surrounded by thoughtful care, love, and comfort, allowing her to leave this life peacefully and with dignity on August 24, 2026, at the age of 89.
Claudette was born on July 2, 1937, in Chicago, Illinois, the eighth child of James Henry Foster and Roseanna (Dill) Foster. From an early age, Claudette displayed a spirited and determined nature, as well as a remarkable athletic ability. As a young girl, she excelled in baseball, volleyball, and swimming. At just 14 years old, she was an exceptional center fielder, a talent that became a source of great pride for her father after he witnessed her abilities for himself.
Claudette enjoyed a long and respected career with Metropolitan Life Insurance at the Aurora branch, where she devoted 30 years of service before retiring in 1992.
Above all, Claudette will be remembered for her loving and giving spirit. She cared deeply for her family and was always willing to make personal sacrifices for those she loved. Her kindness, generosity, strength, and devotion to family were defining qualities throughout her life.
Claudette was preceded in death by her siblings Icy, Irene, Bill, James, Geraldine, and Bobbi.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved sisters Christine, Pearl, Rose and Sandra, and a large and loving family of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Claudette’s life touched many people, and her memory will live on through the family she loved so dearly. She will be remembered for her generous heart, her strength, her accomplishments, and the love she gave so freely.
May she rest peacefully and forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
