Charles James Garber, 49, of Ossian, Indiana passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at IU University Hospital. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on July 28, 1975, Charles was known for his infectious smile, calm demeanor, quick wit and humor. He had a selfless nature, always prioritizing others' needs above his own, and always saw the good in everybody, giving everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Charles grew up attending Wayne High School and later dedicated many years of his life working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, a role through which he touched many lives with his care and compassion. He was a devout Baptist Christian, and felt comfortable with his faith before his passing.
Charles had a profound love for animals, joking around, the outdoors, and the kind of music that touched your soul. He was a big fan of Chicago Cubs baseball, the SF 49ers & Notre Dame Football. He cherished moments spent with his children and granddaughter, especially Mexican food get-togethers. His favorite foods were tacos and chili-the spicier the better. Whether it was a sunny day outside or a moment of shared laughter, he embraced life with enthusiasm and positivity.
Charles fought hard up until the very end of his life when his body couldn’t fight anymore. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, humor, and dedication to others will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
His life was rich with love from his family and he is survived by his daughter, Whitney Garber (Johnny); son, Jonas Garber; granddaughter, Brooklyn Crandall; brother, John Garber (Jen); sister, Katie Yoho (Chris); mother, Brenda Routhier, and his nieces and nephews; Cristian, Julian, Gracie & Abby.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Ray & Dorothy Garber, and his father, Ted Garber.
Donations made to Charles’ daughter, Whitney Garber, would be greatly appreciated.
A Celebration of Life will be Monday, April 14, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Victory Life Church, 1502 Rose Avenue, New Haven, Indiana 46774. Neptune Society has been entrusted with cremation arrangements.
