Carroll Gene “Bud” Tucker, 82, of Winchester, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 14, 2023, at I.U. Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born in Winchester on December 13, 1940, to Gobel and Bessie (Green) Tucker. Bud graduated from Winchester High School in 1960. He married Sara Simpson on February 12, 1961, and they celebrated sixty-two years together.
Bud worked for The Broderick Company in Muncie before becoming a postal worker. He was a U.S. Postal Worker for over forty years. He started in Winchester and transferred to Vero Beach, Florida, for five years. He then transferred to Fort Myers, Florida, before retiring in 2018.
Bud was a sports fan and loved I.U. and the Colts. He was also a family man who loved his children and grandchildren. After retirement, he spent the rest of his life being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Bud and Sally’s love of the ocean and sandy beaches took them to Florida where they resided for over thirty-six years. He has left many wonderful memories with his wife, family and friends. His love of family, love of sports, and sense of humor will be missed by all those who knew him.
Left behind to cherish his memory are: his wife, Sara “Sally” Tucker; his sons, Dan (Misty) Tucker, David (Debbie) Tucker, and James Tucker; a brother, William “Butch” Tucker; grandchildren, Rachel Tucker, Davie Tucker, Levi Tucker, Alyson Tucker, and Zack (fiancé, Leticia) Tucker; and great-grandchildren, Aurora Tucker, Elizabeth Leon, and Hudson Hopkins-Tucker.
Bud was preceded in death by: his parents, Gobel and Bessie Tucker; his mother and father-in-law, Francis and Mary Simpson; brothers, Gary, Jack, and Richard; and sisters, Kathleen, Janette, and Barbara; and brother-in-law, V.R. “Dick” Williams, D.D.S.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Bud in his final days. A special thank you to the chaplains for their prayers that brought comfort to the family in our time of need.
A Celebration of Life is being planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bud’s memory to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
