Brian Wayne Blair, age 69, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. He was born May 2, 1955, in Bloomington, Indiana to the late Richard Herman Blair and Wilma Lee (Waddell) Blair.
Brian was a past member of the Allen County Gideons International Auxiliary and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was also an avid Star Trek and Indiana University alumni. During Brian’s fulfilling career, he worked for Indiana Department of Environmental Management focusing on wastewater permits and then at TAL Laboratories and Consultants INC. as a supervisor for a new environmental laboratory.
In 1992, Brian took responsibility for setting up an onsite laboratory for Utility Center at the Midwest wastewater treatment plant, the facility eventually became Aqua Indiana Midwest after many changes and upgrades, and in 2020, he retired from Aqua Indiana as a Laboratory Supervisor, Safety Officer and Environmental Compliance Officer.
Brian is survived by: his brothers, Richard Lee Blair and George Sherman Poppa; two aunts, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Brian was preceded in death by: his wife of thirty-six years, Mary Fern (Rhoades) Blair, as well as grandparents Richard Herman Blair Sr., Magdalene Hoot (Macauley), Edward Lee Waddell, and Grace Waddell (Case); two uncles and one cousin.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Fort Wayne, Indiana- 2323 Fairfield Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46807, on Monday, February 24, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
His cremated remains will be interred in Bloomington, Ind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International (gideons.org) or First Baptist Church of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
