Brenda Kay Weaver of Indianapolis died on Saturday, June 24th, in her home. The daughter of Donald and Joanne Patterson, she was born in Berkeley, California, on June 26, 1960. Brenda lived in Berkeley with her grandparents, George and Georgina Gendron, until age 12. She then moved to Fairport, New York, to live with her father and stepmother, Anne, eventually settling in Little Rock, Arkansas, for her teenage and young adult years. She graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock with both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech Pathology. During college, Brenda became an active member of Little Rock’s First Baptist Church. It is there that she first proclaimed her faith in Jesus Christ. First Baptist is also where she met her husband, Jeff Weaver, and helped him grow in his faith, leading to his profession of Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. They married on March 29, 1986, and continued to live and work in Little Rock. Their son Loyal Jeffrey was born in October of 1989, and their daughter Cara Leann arrived in May of 1991 following a move to Indianapolis. Over the 26 years that the couple lived in and raised their family in Indianapolis, Brenda was an active member at Fall Creek Church. Children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School were her main passions. Prior to starting her family, Brenda worked as a speech pathologist in schools and special needs centers. As the kids grew older and left for college, Brenda enjoyed a career as a pharmacy technician at CVS. Brenda’s lifelong love of horses culminated in the acquisition of her two beloved horses, Sadie and Cherokee. Grooming and riding, especially trail riding, were cherished activities. She expanded her equine interest through ownership of Jacobs Creek Racing and two racehorses. Brenda was also an avid Colts fan and season ticket holder. Brenda is survived by her husband of 31 years, Jeff, son, Loyal, daughter, Cara, and soon to come grandson. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 8th, at Fall Creek Church, located at 8901 Fall Creek Road, Indianapolis, IN 46256. Donations in memory of Brenda may be made to Old Friends, a retirement and rescue facility for thoroughbred racehorses.
