Larry was born November 19, 1939, in Danville, Ill., to the late Albert and Marvel Hines. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven older sisters.
Larry graduated from Perrysville High School in 1957, enlisted in the Army at 17, and served for six years. He was employed with Olin/Flexel for 38 years.
Larry married Carole Sue Mitchell on February 29, 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Carole; two daughters, Dawn (Pat) Yoho, Eugene, Ind., and Hope Hines, Wake Forest, N.C.; three sons, Jeff Hines, Covington, Ind., Scott (Ann) Hines, Dayton, Ohio, and Joshua Hines, Covington, Ind. Larry is proud Grandpa of Heather Denhart, Travis (Ashley) Denhart, Haley Hines, Caleb Hines, Abby (Justin) Parker, Brandon Hines, Claire Hines, and Serenity Hines; and Great-Grandpa of Jazmine, Avery, Madison, Mallory, Olivia, Emmett, Haven and Hudson.
Larry believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a testament to his faith through his generosity, selflessness and serving others. He had a love for life, telling stories, traveling, was a fan of the Cubs, Indiana basketball and the Covington Trojans.
He coached/played many years of softball and intramural basketball, tennis and golf. Larry held a high regard for the military and all who served. He mostly cherished his family, morning coffee at Benjamins, and walking many miles with his beloved Carole.
Visitation will take place 4-8 p.m. EDT Friday, October 4, at First Church of Christ, 615 5th St., Covington, Ind., where he was a member for 43 years. A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. EDT Saturday, October 5, at the church.
