He was born on October 29, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, to Marlow L. Schwarz and Dorothy M. (Hall) Schwarz.
William, affectionately known as Bill, was a dedicated and accomplished professional who worked as a medicinal chemist, oilfield chemist, and expert in quality management determination and compliance assessment. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1971.
His educational journey was extensive and distinguished. He attended Guardian Angel Catholic School in Manistee, Michigan, and graduated from Campion Jesuit Boys High School in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He continued his studies at St. Louis University in Missouri, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and the University of Texas in Arlington.
Bill was a man of many interests and gave generously of his time and talents. He was actively involved in his community through Jazzercise, church choirs, and handbell groups. His energy, warmth, and sense of humor touched many lives.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Schwarz. Together they shared a beautiful family that brought them immense pride and joy. He leaves behind his sons, Scott Michael Schwarz and wife Lori, Stephen Anthony Schwarz and wife Jane, and Christopher David Schwarz and wife Gretchen. He is also survived by Barbara’s children, Tricia Treude and husband Don, and Bart Stites and wife Lisa.
Bill was a devoted grandfather to Caitlyn Schwarz, Bradley Schwarz, Sunday Schwarz, Rachel Castleman, and Jacob Treude. He was also blessed with a great-grandson, Lukas Garcia-Treude.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated medical staff and caregivers of Bayou Vista and Eagle’s Trace, as well as the compassionate team at Bayou City Hospice. A special thanks goes to Amy Sarro, Director of Bayou Vista, for her outstanding care and support.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at Houston National Cemetery on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 12:30 p.m.
