Warren Harry Baerenwald went to be with our Lord on the evening of February 5th, 2018, surrounded by loved ones and in the thoughts of many others who will miss him dearly. Warren was born on May 2nd, 1933 in Granville, Wisconsin, graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School, earned a Physics degree from Valparaiso University (1958), and served in the United States Army, stationed in Fort Greely, Alaska from 1954 to 1956. Before being honorably discharged, he met Arlene Ruth Maas in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and they were married on August 17, 1957. Together they raised their children Cynthia, Philip, Paul, and Mark. Warren enjoyed a long career in Quality Assurance across various industries and locations, including a role in safely landing men on the moon. He ultimately retired from NL Atlas Bradford in 2000 but continued to remain active by substitute teaching in various local schools.
He was preceded in death by his father Harry and his mother Loretta, his sister Lois, and his daughter Cynthia Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene (Friendswood, TX); sister Joanne Wolfgram (Menomonee Falls, WI); sons Philip and wife Ginger (Rockford, IL), Paul and wife Beatriz (Missouri City, TX), Mark and wife Elizabeth (Cypress, TX) and son-in-law Marty Anderson and wife Ann (Deer Park, TX); his grandchildren Devin and wife Jennifer, Brandon Anderson and fiancée Erica, Derek and wife Alesha, Joshua and wife Susan, Vanessa Anderson, Lukas and wife Jessica, Sarah, Alex, and Andy; his great grandchildren Caden Anderson, Gabriel and Retta Baerenwald.
Warren was an active member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church since 1981, sang in the choir for many years and was a member of the Roustabouts and Bobbleheads. He was also a member of the Houston Lutheran Chorale for over 10 years and enjoyed traveling and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Warren will be remembered for his quiet intellect, his humble faith and his consistent support to his family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am on February 19, 2018 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church (18220 Upper Bay Road, Houston, TX, 77058). In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, memo: Music Ministry.
