Terry spent her childhood in Glenview, Illinois, and Greenwich, Connecticut. She attended Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she began shaping her path in life. As a young adult, she worked in political consulting, dividing her time between New York City and Washington, D.C.
Later, Terry embarked on a new journey as a cabinetmaker—a career that reflected her creativity and meticulous craftsmanship. During this time, she met Husseyin Ege, with whom she built a family, welcoming their son, Conrad Ege. Terry settled in Baltimore, Maryland, and lived there before moving to Missouri City, Texas, in 2008, where she resided until her passing.
Terry was a woman of many passions. She loved playing the piano, particularly pieces by Mozart, and found joy in painting, often attempting to recreate the works of Edward Hopper. Her talent for renovation was both a profession and a hobby, as she poured her heart into transforming homes, including her own. Terry was deeply committed to social justice and compassionate to everyone she met. She was also a devoted dog lover, especially to her beloved Labrador Retrievers, Rocky and Umber. Above all, she cherished her family and friends, always approaching life with generosity, care, and good intentions.
Terry is survived by her son, Conrad Ege, and daughter-in-law, Katherine Cerdeiros, of Westchester County, New York; her brother, Alan Thometz, and sister-in-law, Claire Thometz, of St. Paul, Minnesota; her nieces, Katie and Emily Thometz, and many extended family members from her Chicago roots.
