Steven Leonard Holt

Obituary of Steven Leonard Holt
Steven Leonard Holt, 66, of Houston, Texas died unexpectedly on September 6, 2021 from COVID, exacerbated by pre-existing medical conditions.

He was born February 27, 1955 in Germany, while his father was serving in the U.S. Army. Steve spent most of his youth in the San Antonio, Texas area, where his love of reading and gaming began.

He spent more than 35 years in the engineering and construction fields working for multiple companies performing a wide range of roles in engineering design, project management, specifications development, and construction supervision.

Steve had a lifelong passion for all types of gaming including tabletop miniature war gaming, fantasy role-playing, and computer gaming. His other hobbies included motorcycling, medieval reenactment, snow skiing and scuba diving. Steve had a fondness for all animals. His pets included numerous cats and a ferret, and he was known to regularly adopt and feed strays including opossums, squirrels, birds, dogs and feral cats.

He served in the U.S. Army’s Security Agency (Army Intelligence) as a cryptologic linguist and foreign language translator in Berlin, Germany.

Steve attended Texas A & M University, Galveston before joining the service. He later received his Bachelor of Arts degree in German studies from the University of Houston.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marcel Holt; aunt, Iris Holt Wallace; and cousin, Stephen Wallace all of San Antonio, Texas.

Inurnment will be at the Houston National Cemetery. Due to the pandemic, no service will be held at this time.
