Born on February 15, 1958, in Houston to John and Robbie Thompson, Sherri was the kind of person who made you feel like family the moment you walked through the door---and if you stayed long enough, you probably left with advice (some good, some funny), a full heart, and a glass of sweet iced tea.
She was married to the love of her life, Chuck Hartman, and together they built a home filled with laughter, love, and deep family roots. Sherri was the proud mother of two children, Alan and Misti, and the adoring grandmother to Faith Hartman. She is survived by her husband Chuck; daughter Misti Chang and her husband Chris; granddaughter Faith and her mother Hope; sisters Kay Decell and Sandy Thompson (husband H); and her dearest lifelong friend, Pat Dessel. She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son, Alan Hartman.
Sherri took pride in running the office at Chill-Co. Air Conditioning, stepping into the role of "Mrs. Chill-Co." after her mother, and doing it with grace and dedication. She was always involved in the lives of her children and later, her granddaughter. Whether cheering from the sidelines at a soccer game or showing up at every dance recital, Sherri was always there. Her family never had to wonder if she'd show up---she already was.
Her hobbies were simple but deeply meaningful: caring for her family, loving people, and enjoying quiet moments fishing at Lake Livingston. She was known for her kind heart, her sense of humor, and her remarkable ability to see the silver lining, even when no one else could.
She was a faithful woman, leaning on the Lord through life's storms and encouraging others to do the same. Her faith carried her, and it comforted her--and her family finds peace knowing she is now fully at peace in His presence.
Sherri taught her family, not just with words but with a life well-lived, that family is always worth the sacrifice. She showed us that being a good mother means standing behind your kids whether you're pushing them forward--or giving them a loving nudge in the right direction.
She will be remembered most for how she loved. Fiercely. Selflessly. Faithfully. And that love lives on in every person who ever called her mom, sister, friend, or simply Sherri.
The family invites you to honor Sherri's memory by spending time with your loved ones, showing kindness to a stranger, or simply putting out a pitcher of iced tea--because that's what she would do.
