He was born on October 16, 1941 in Morgan City, Louisiana to Rae (Fields) and Russell Delaune Sr., who predeceased him many years ago.
Russell was a hard worker and liked to keep busy. He worked at Time Wise in Sugar Land after returning from living in Canada for approximately 23 years. He only retired a couple of years ago due to complications post radiation treatments from cancer, which he was in remission. During the years he worked in Sugar Land, he found his second home at The Waffle House (Hwy 6 and Beech Nut). The staff and customers were his home away from home, his family, and the reason he laughed.
He is survived by his loving daughter Dawn Riddle, granddaughters Trina Delaune and Tayden Riddle, all from Canada; his caring son Dan, wife Carol, son Matthew and loving granddaughter Meghan Delaune of Houston; also son Robert and daughter Carmen. Russell was one of three children; he leaves behind his older sister, Barbara (Eugene) Lively, and his younger brother Gary and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 10:30 am, at Grandview Memorial Park, located at 8501 Spencer Hwy., Pasadena, TX 77505, Gate #3, in the Garden of Four Apostles.
In lieu of flowers, which he’d hate; please make a donation to your local SPCA to help so many of the abandoned and abused dogs find a safe haven or at least a peaceful resting place in their final days.
