Ross was born in Sandy, Utah on February 19, 1950, to Ronald and Ruth Hughes.
Ross proudly served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Army National Guard after 20 years of service. Ross studied drafting and design at Utah Technical College before making his way to Texas.
Ross considered himself a naturalized Texan, stating, “I may not have been born here, but I got here as fast as I could!” Ross and his former wife, Vickie, raised two beautiful daughters in the Lone Star State. Ross and Jeannie married in 2000 and built an incredible life together, blending their two families.
Ross’s magnetic personality and natural leadership abilities led him to a robust, thirty-eight-year career with Bosworth Papers. Ross loved his work and built many lifelong relationships during his career. A cherished friend and mentor, Ross leaves a beautiful legacy of dedication and perseverance.
In his retirement, Ross enjoyed a quiet, content life alongside the golf course. He enjoyed visiting his grandchildren for sporting events, dance recitals and lively get-togethers at home. His wife, Jeannie, joined him in retirement in 2021, and he treasured their time together. Jeannie’s love and devotion was a constant source of comfort and strength in Ross’s life.
Ross is survived by his daughters, Andrea (Douglas) Ross and Emily (Robert) Gayhart; his wife, Jeannie and her children, Nicholas Volney and Lisa (Andy) Siems; his eight grandchildren, Samantha, Caylie, Clayton, Kylie, Nate, Abigail, Landon and Lucie; his sister, Susan Booth and brothers Richard (Joyce), Steven (Trudy), Max and David; and his former wife, Vickie Oncken. He is preceded in death by his father, Ronald Hughes and his mother, Ruth Hughes and sisters, Margaret and Marilyn.
Service to be held at Houston National Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life. Details will be announced as soon as possible.
