affectionately dubbed YoYo or Grandpa, has taken his final bow on January 6, 2024, just a few months before he would have celebrated his 92nd birthday. Born in the Philippines, Roger embarked on a journey to California for college, where he quickly found his perfect match in Linda Engalla. Within a year, they were tying the knot, and together they enjoyed 66 years of love, laughter, travel, and countless friendships until Linda’s passing two years ago.
Roger was the epitome of a devoted husband and a reliable provider. He was by Linda’s side constantly during her cancer fight, demonstrating that he was more than just a life partner but a true companion and now after courageously battling cancer the last six months, he has joined her in heaven with their Lord, Jesus Christ.
Roger is preceded in death by his father Tiburcio Engalla and his mother Luz Lagman Engalla. His younger siblings Pol Engalla, Malu Engalla and Jimmy Engalla. He is survived by his sister Sonia Ama and Ralph Ama, her husband and by his many nieces and nephews.
Roger leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter, survived by their three children, Mark Engalla, Randy Engalla and Liz, his wife, Michelle Engalla, and their beloved grandchildren: Michael Barnot and Phuong, his wife, Thaddeus Engalla, Brett Engalla, Shawna Walker, Josh Engalla, Tyler Engalla and Danielle, his wife, and Meggie Engalla and Ryan Tyrell, her fiance, along with three great grand children, Koya Engalla, Riley Engalla and Kane Ignat-Barnot. Last but not least his loyal dog, Trippy.
Roger’s life was a testament to his infectious laughter, boundless love, and warm smile. He was a respectful, caring, and supportive person, always ready to lend a helping hand—or at least a funny story. His sense of humor, whether it landed well or not, brought joy and connection to everyone around him. He truly lived for others, and we’re all better off for it.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and we’re sure he’s already making new friends in the great beyond reunited with his love, Linda.
Roger was a life force all on his own and we want to Celebrate his Life when the sun is shining. We will plan that for the Spring. Stay tuned! ❤️🦋
The Engalla family will receive friends at 1 p.m. March 2, 2025 at 18311 Kitzman Rd. Cypress, Texas 77429.
