

Bob was the only child of Harry Glenn Arnett and Madeline Margaret Butler who met each other at Concord College in West Virginia in the 1920s. During the Depression Harry came to Houston and Madeline followed later. Bob was born in St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston and grew up in Bellaire eventually attending Bellaire High School participating in the Band and the Swim Team. He continued to be "Cardinal Proud" all his life. He was a member of the Methodist Church and served as the Vice President of the Texas Annual Conference MYF. He graduated with a B.A. in Economics from Rice University a member of Baker College and then received his MBA from the Cox School of Business at SMU in Dallas in 1966. His life with IBM began soon after but was interrupted by the draft. He was inducted into the Army and served as a computer programmer in Bremerhaven, Germany tracking all the supplies for NATO. He returned to Houston in 1969 and continued his career with IBM working with large corporations, NASA, and retired soon after desk top computer models were introduced. At an early age he was interested in the stock market and coin collecting. He loved playing Duplicate Bridge soon becoming a Life Master. The Fellowship of A.A. enriched his life. In every season of his life he made many lifelong friends.
He was devoted to his family. He is survived by his wife Ann Pierce Arnett and his daughter Sarah Arnett Schoolar (Adrian) and preceded in death by his son, Richard Glenn Arnett. He loved his grandsons: Ryan Glenn Arnett Heitman; Rigel Alexander Smith, and Bronson Pierce Schoolar and his niece Kristen Dietrich and nephew Allen Carl Pierce (Julia) as well as many beloved cousins.
Bob was grateful for all the medical caregivers who made his life more comfortable.
A memorial service for Bob will be on Monday June 1, at 1:00 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Dr. Tom Pace officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University; St. Luke's United Methodist Church; Houston Hospice or a charity of your choice.
