Born in Amory Mississippi to Luther Don and Jewel Perkins, he was the last of five children. After graduating from high school, he attended Mississippi State University and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. As a young engineer, he worked for Phillips Chemical in Borger, Texas. After a year with Phillips, he served one-and one-half year in the US Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. After the Army he moved to Houston, Texas and worked for Olsen Engineering. Olsen later merged with Jacobs Engineering where he became an Executive Vice President. He retired in 2000 after 35 years of service with Jacobs.
Throughout his life he enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and snow skiing. He enjoyed all these activities with his dear wife Jane, his children and later with his grandchildren.
As a loving and devoted husband and father and a dedicated Christian, he and Jane were long-time members of Champion Forest Baptist Church. He respected and loved his wife unconditionally, and involved himself in the many details of his children and grandchildren’s lives, always willing to help however needed. He was a man of strong faith. He believed in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and sacrifice, and the beauty and peace that was awaiting him after his passing.
Terry is predeceased by his parents, Don and Jewel Perkins, and his three sisters, Pauline Miller, Lucille Milstead, Margie Kizziah.
Terry is survived by his loving wife Jane Perkins, son Richard T. Perkins, daughter, Lora M Perkins, grandsons, Jason and Justin Martinez, and his older brother, L. Don Perkins Jr.
A celebration of life will be held at Champions Forest Church, 15555 Stuebner Airline Rd, Houston, TX 77069 on Friday, October 6th at 2:00 pm..
