Dick graduated from Churubusco High School in 1944. He graduated from Northwestern University, Ba in 1948, Masters in 1949 before entering the U. S. Navy. He had a passion for helping others including social work helping single mothers in Chicago followed by over three decades with the American Red Cross. Dick was instrumental in the success of the Aids Foundation of Houston. He was a founding member of The Four Seasons Club and an underwriter for the Krewe of Olympus of Texas.
Dick was one of those people you couldn’t help but enjoy being around. He loved people whether family, friends, neighbors or someone he just met. Dick loved life, loved to laugh and had a passion for travel, visiting over 60 countries, many numerous times. Dick lived his life with passion, respectful of others but according to his own plan. As the light began to dim on his life he continued calling the shots. He chose to pass away in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. God, saluting a life well lived, called Dick home on his 97th birthday.
Dick is preceded in death by parents Maurice (1984) & Helen Stauffer-Bolyard (1991), sister Doris (2000) and brother-in-law Robert Doty (1985), numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by his spouse of 39 years, two wonderful nieces, great nieces and nephew and 10 cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the fall.
If any would like to preserve Mr. Bolyard's obituary please see it posted in the Sunday's Houston Chronicle edition 8-13-2023.
