Ralph Claude Byle

Ralph Byle, Jr. passed away on September 21, 2026 at the age of 91. He was born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania on August 3, 1935 to Ralph Byle, Sr. and Joyce Wenzler. Ralph joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1953 and served in the Korean War. He moved to Houston in October, 1958 and graduated from the University of Houston. He went on to be a math teacher at Pershing Middle School, and then worked at Control Data, a pioneer company in the computer industry. He was a resident of Winlow Place in Houston from 1966 until his passing, and a longtime member of the Prime Timers of Houston. Ralph loved working with his hands and being in nature. He was an avid fisherman with an affinity for the Gulf Coast, and a patron and lover of opera. He enjoyed traveling in the United States and abroad, and was especially fond of visiting our national park system, France, Mexico and Canada. He was pre-deceased by his partner at that time, David L. Huskey in 2011. He is survived by his current partner, Waymond Malone, who had the great pleasure of knowing Ralph since 1977. He is also survived by his nephew Denny Byle (Inverness, Florida) and his cousins Rosemary Milgate, Sharon Wenzler, Kerri Wenzler, Eleanor Griffiths, Larry Barr, and Barbara Boyer (Lebanon, Pennsylvania). Waymond would like to thank the medical professionals at the VA Hospital in Houston (especially Dr. Maria Rodriguez-Barradas), Houston Methodist Hospital and Harbor Hospice. He would also like to acknowledge the Barnett family, D.C. Chambers, Joyce Wright and Bill Thompson, Linda Gilbert, Jackie Calhoun, Nick Cavallaro, Katie Brusegaard, Pat Davis, Fred Reninger and others for their loving support.
