After growing up in Bay Springs, Pat graduated from Mississippi State University in 1976 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He immediately moved to Houston, where he began a 43-year career with Houston Lighting & Power/CenterPoint Energy. A few months after relocating to Houston, he met Kathleen Moriarty, who became his wife of almost 47 years.
Pat brought so much joy to this life. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all no matter their position in life. He accepted you as you are and had no agenda. Those who spent time around Pat knew there would never be a dull moment or a short explanation. He could make you laugh like no other. He knew all the best restaurants and would gladly accompany you to all of them.
Pat had a passion for family and friends, serving his church, especially the music ministry, all things culinary, and the Mississippi State Bulldogs where he played trombone in the band. He loved gardening and traveling to new places while his health permitted.
In addition to Kathleen he will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, favorite oldest Marigene & Josh Taylor, favorite youngest Emily & Chris McVey, grandchildren, Rebekah Wilkins & Bryce Koehl, Elizabeth Sylvester & Cullen Oliver, Matthew Allen Sylvester & Serrenity Crosbie, great-grandchildren, Beau Allen & Brilee Kate Koehl, favorite “dog-daughter”, Sadie Sue, sister-in-law & husband, Mariana & Bill Rumbaugh, brother-in-law, Mike Moriarty, numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Pat’s name to River Oaks Baptist Church, 2300 Willowick Road, Houston, TX 77027, or Christian Community Service Center, 3434 Branard Street, Houston, TX 77027.
A Celebration of Life will be held at River Oaks Baptist Church on July 26, 2025, at 11 AM with a reception to follow.
