Mildred was the daughter of Robert and Florence Hornaday.
After graduating valedictorian of her high school class in Fordyce, she graduated top of her class from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis, TN. She continued her residency at the Baptist Hospital which thrusted Mildred’s advancement to head nurse of the operating rooms. Later in life, she worked in private duty nursing, but prioritized her family. On the weekends, Mildred was a Sunday school teacher for the young married adult class at Mallory Heights Baptist Church in Memphis, TN. Because of her great strength and tenacity, Mildred was able to provide counseling to young adults, both behavioral and spiritual throughout her lifetime.
Mildred was a devoted wife to James A Brim Sr., loving mother to Kay and Jimmy, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She shared and assisted her family with her life experiences and intuition. Family was of great importance to Mildred and she treasured them deeply. God gave her the blessing of retaining a sound mind, witty remarks, and always in a jocular mood that created a lasting impression on everyone she met. Mildred was a very remarkable woman whom used different outlets to express her creativity, such as: poetry, wrote and directed skits, and used her spiritual acuity, as a devoted Christian, to comfort and encourage others. She contributed time and money to many charities throughout her lifetime as this fulfilled her desire to help others.
She is survived by her son, James A Brim Jr. and wife Sandy, son-in-law James Franklin Stuart, grandchildren: Cindy Brim Gerlach, John F. Stuart and wife Maria. She is also survived by great grandchildren: Brandon Gerlach, Courtney Gerlach, Katherine Stuart and daughter, great- great grandchild, Victoria Rose.
