Matt was born in Charlotte, NC on March 26, 1997 to Jeffrey and Laura Harper. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School.
Matt was a tenured mechanic at Hyundai in Tomball and was only a few classes away from becoming a master mechanic.
October 10, 2008, brought Matthew Harper and Maggie Smith their greatest gift: Alice Harper. She claimed her father's heart on day one, and everyone who meets her soon finds themselves wrapped around her finger as well.
On April 30, 2022, Matt wed Megan Lower. Though their paths took different turns, she remained close to his heart, and he to hers.
Matt was a gear head who relished tinkering on cars and motorcycles, both at work and on his own time. He was generous with his time and expertise. He often volunteered to repair cars of friends and family.
He was never happier than when he was riding his Harley with wind blowing in his hair. As a teenager Matt spent years perfecting his skate boarding skills. However, first and foremost, Matt loved his daughter, Alice, more than anything else in the world.
There are so many phrases Matt’s friends and family have used to describe him. Some of these are:
Full of life and love
Social butterfly
Kind
Easy going
Animal Lover
Charming
Harley guy
Caretaker
Matt proudly showed off his tattoos and had a bold, striking style all his own. His larger-than-life style turned heads wherever he went. Those closest to him knew, however, that was a disguise to cover up how sensitive and empathetic he was. He loved letting his daughter paint his nails and he’d show off her work to others.
Matt is survived by his beloved daughter, Alice Harper and her mom Maggie Smith; his mother Laura Smith; father, Jeffrey (Amanda) Harper; his brother, Jonathan (Mariana) Harper; grandparents Rodney and Cheryl Harper; grandmother Brenda Rains; grandmother Wanda Caudle (Steve Burleson); Megan Harper; dog Jasper; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Lee Smith; his cousin, Christopher Cox; uncle Eric Harper; and dog Shiloh
