Mary Catherine (Mary Kay) Klekar of Houston, TX passed away on May 2, 2018 with her loving husband and soul mate at her side. Mary was 77 years of age when she left to be in the restful arms of her loving God.
She was preceded in death by her parents William Harry Taylor and Anna Loretta Brennan Taylor and her sister, Anne L Taylor McCarthy.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Michael Bernard Klekar, step-daughter, Angela Lynn Montgomery and her husband Jerry, grandchildren, Joshua Baxley and Mikalyn Baxley. Brother, William H Taylor of San Antonio, TX. Nieces, Catherine A Taylor of St Paul, MN, Christine E Taylor of New York, NY, Anna Simkulet and husband Josh of St Paul, TX. Nephew, Austin and wife Melissa Pruneda of San Antonio, TX. Great nieces, Brenna, Ava, Claire, and Addison.
Mary had numerous loving cousins from the Black, Flynn, Malady, Sorum, and Wash families. As well as nieces, great nephews and great grandnephews from the Klekar and Jallans families.
Mary was born in Cleveland, Oh and grew up in Garfield Heights. She attended St. Therese, Holy Name High School.
In 1959 Mary started her college education at The College of Mt. St. Joseph in Cincinnati OH and received her registered nursing degree and went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.
Mary took a leap of faith and moved from Ohio to Houston, TX where she met her husband and married in April 1985. While in Houston Mary worked at the VA Hospital and Park Plaza hospital. She retired her nursing career from St Luke’s Episcopal hospital.
Mary’s unconditional love for her family and friends were expressed by her Christian servant approach, kindness and concern for all those around her. She is loved and will be dearly missed not only by her family but everyone who knew her.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018. Rosary at 10:45am with time for reflection before Mass at 11:30am at St James the Apostle Catholic Church, 22800 Aldine Westfield Rd. Spring TX 77373. Phone 281-353-5053. There will be a fellowship gathering in the church hall after Mass.
