Marilyn Scott DeBay, 89, of Sugar Land, TX passed away peacefully and without pain on Saturday, March 4th, 2017 at Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, while listening to her favorite Frank Sinatra love songs. She was born in Natrona Heights, PA on November 21, 1927 to Merle R. and Jean Bowser Scott. Marilyn graduated from Har-Brack High School and Miss Conley’s Secretarial School and was then employed by Allegheny Ludlum Steel. In July 1949, she and her high school sweetheart, Norman DeBay, commenced a 67-year marriage of love and devotion. Marilyn was a true disciple of Jesus Christ and a dedicated mother to her son, Gary Lee De Bay (wife Kathy) and daughter, Donna D. King. She cherished her grandchildren: Chris, Bryan and Taylor De Bay; Ryan Frank (wife Rebecca), Stephen Frank (wife Rose); Kristin King Burchell (husband Joe) and Ben King. And adored her great-grandchildren: Sarah, Henry, Evelyn and Charlotte Burchell; Cayden, Austyn and Angelina Frank; and Naomi DeBay. After raising their children, Marilyn took up golf with a Scottish passion and was a member of Wildwood Golf Club, Innisbrook Resort Golf Club and Sugar Creek Country Club. She also enjoyed reading, relaxing at the organ and playing in the church bell choir. One of her greatest loves was joining with other women to study the Bible. She volunteered for years at the Memorial Southwest Hospital Gift Shop and never hesitated to do whatever was needed to help local charities. In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Scott daughter, Nanette Susan DeBay, and son, Curtis Scott DeBay. A Memorial Service will be held at Sugar Land First United Methodist Church, 431 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, TX on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, tributes may be made to the charity of your choice.
