A proud native of Dayton, Marie spent most of her life surrounded by the people and places she loved most. In 2008, she moved to Cameron, Texas, where she lived for many years before returning home to Dayton in 2024. Wherever life took her, Marie brought warmth, laughter, and light to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James D. Fuson Jr. (Jim); her parents, Juanita Holcomb and Charles Hutchins Sr.; her sister, Rita Bennett; and her brother, Charles Hutchins Jr.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Tommie Wilson, and husband Trey; her son,, William Malone; and five beloved grandsons: Xavier Garcia, Isaac Garcia, Noe Garcia Jr., Cayden Wilson, and Kody Malone. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Patsy Hutchins and Wanda Hutchins; several nieces and nephews; five cherished grandnieces--Kayla Reed, Megan Reed, Riley Reed, Payton Mayon, and Aryan Stasney--and a great-grandnephew, Joey McDaniel. Her constant companions, River and Juju, her treasured fur babies, were loved like children.
Marie found joy in life's simplest pleasures--fishing, camping, gardening, and long phone conversations with the people she loved. Her quick wit, contagious laugh, and playful spirit left lasting impressions, and her love for mischief often showed through in the pranks she so cleverly pulled.
In January 2025, Marie was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a fierce form of brain cancer. She met the battle with extraordinary grace, courage, and humor, never losing her sparkle or her strength.
Marie will be deeply missed by all who had the joy of knowing her. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the joy she brought, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
A celebration of Marie's life will be announced at a later date.
