Judy was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas on December 15, 1947, and was the eldest daughter of James D. Tippen and Ruth G. Tippen. She is survived by her dedicated husband of over 57 years, Ned Dean, and her best friend and loving sister, Patty T. Ward of Atlanta; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Carrie and Albert LaCasse, and Ginger and Nick Evans; and her four cherished grandchildren, John and Sarah LaCasse, and Grace and Claire Evans.
Judy graduated from Memphis State University in three years. She spent most of her life in the Clear Lake area of Texas, where she dedicated many years to teaching elementary school. She found joy in volunteering at her daughters’ schools during their early years and had a lifelong love of travel, especially the Smoky Mountains and Disney World. Judy loved to read and often selected an author and read all of their books. She was also a longtime, active member of Clear Lake United Methodist Church, where her faith and service were an important part of her life. After moving to Conroe in 2013, she joined the Woodlands Methodist Church.
In her later years, Judy bravely fought Alzheimer’s disease, facing it with the same joyful spirit that defined her life. Through it all, she maintained her warm smile and happy personality, which touched everyone who knew her.
She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
A Tribute of Life Service will be held at Woodlands Methodist Church, Robb Chapel, February 27 at 11am. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
