Joseph “Scott” Thompson, 70, of Houston, TX, passed away peacefully at home on December 8, 2025, with Babette LeMieux by his side. Born on March 9, 1955, in Houston to Joe L. and Jane Thompson, Scott spent his childhood following his father’s oil company career, which took the family to Venezuela, France, and communities across Texas and eastern New Mexico. He graduated from Hobbs High School in New Mexico and earned his Business degree from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.
Scott devoted his career to the oil service industry, beginning with Schlumberger. His work took him across the globe—Libya, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, London, Indonesia, Trinidad, Nigeria, China, Tulsa, Venezuela, and Colombia—before returning to Houston in 2003. Over the years, through Schlumberger, NATCO, Hanover, and
Noble, he built lasting relationships and treasured the experiences he shared with colleagues and friends worldwide.
He is survived by his sons, Tyler Scott Thompson and Austin Trent Thompson; their loving mother, Stacy Thompson; his brother, Tim Thompson; his companion, Babette LeMieux; her daughters; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Scott will be remembered for his quick wit, warm humor, and love of golf, fishing, hunting, photography, cooking, and entertaining. Among his most cherished memories were introducing his sons to golf and spending countless hours together on the course—a passion Tyler and Trent proudly carry forward.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff of Houston Hospice, whose kindness and gentle care brought comfort and dignity during Scott’s final weeks.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 29, 2025, at 2 P.M. at the Church of St. John The Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd, Houston, TX 77019. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Church of St. John The Divine in Scott’s memory. Honoring
Scott’s wish, attendees are encouraged to wear vibrant colors to the service. Scott’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who loved him.
