John Kirby Vaughan, Jr. passed away after a long illness on March 13, 2023. Born on December 3rd, 1947 in Dallas, Texas, John was the third and youngest child of John Kirby Vaughan, Sr. and Lola Lee. Sadly, both his siblings preceded him in death. John is survived by his wife, Bethanne Wenger, whom he loved and made happy for 30 years. He is also survived by his only son, Jacob Vaughan, and two grandchildren.
John dedicated his career to the healthcare industry, working as a physical therapy assistant for Houston Methodist Hospital and Texas Orthopedic Hospital for many decades. He had a profound impact on his colleagues and the countless patients he helped throughout his career. John's commitment to his patients and his profession earned him a great deal of respect and admiration from those who knew him.
John was known for his wit, kindness, his egg-in-a-nest, grilled cheese sandwiches, and his ability to put a smile on the faces of those around him. He was an avid collector of antiquities and curiosities, a lover of the arts and classical music, and a frequent traveller of the world with Bethanne. John's absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him.
He will be cremated in a private ceremony according to his wishes. A donation to the Houston Ballet or Opera would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
