John Franklin Mitchell Jr.

John Franklin Mitchell Jr. passed away on October 3, 2023 at the age of 78 in Houston, Texas. John was born on January 1, 1945 in Henderson, Texas and grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana where he graduated from C.E. Byrd High School in 1963.

John graduated from Baylor University in 1967 with degrees in Economics and Mathematics and received his Masters of Business Administration in 1974 from Saint Louis University. He worked as a computer consultant and entrepreneur.

John was actively involved at Tallowood Baptist Church of which he was a member for nearly 50 years. He was always willing to help family and friends. He enjoyed freshwater fishing while he was growing up with his dad.

John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Glenda Kay Mitchell; daughter Lauren and Chris Luttrell; son Christopher Mitchell; sister Nancy and Barry Pearce; nephew Brian and Alison Pearce and sons; niece Bethany and Zebulon Parker and son; nephew Jonathan and Toni Pearce; one aunt; numerous cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents John (Jack) Franklin Mitchell Sr. and Opal Wylie Mitchell

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at Tallowood Baptist Church on Monday, October 9, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel with a reception immediately following.
