

John W. Fyke, born November 25, 1941, in Centralia, IL and passed away on May 17, 2026. He had been a proud resident of Katy since 1977, where he built a life rooted in service, hard work, and dedication to his community.
John proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966 and later continued his military service with the Navy Seabees from 1968 to 1972. His years of service reflected the discipline, strength, and commitment that defined his life.
Following his military career, John worked as a heavy equipment operator, a profession well suited to his strong work ethic and hands-on nature. In 1982, he began a new chapter of service when he became a police officer in Katy, Texas, dedicating himself to protecting and serving his community with integrity and compassion.
In 1989, John returned to heavy equipment operations, working for the City of Katy, where he continued to contribute through his dependable work ethic and commitment to the community he loved. In 1992, he returned once again to law enforcement, joining Katy Independent School District Police Department, where he faithfully served until his retirement in 2006.
John will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to family, country, and community. Whether serving in the military, operating heavy equipment, or wearing a badge, he approached every responsibility with honor, humility, and pride.
Those fortunate enough to know John will remember his steady presence, quiet strength, sense of humor, and the kindness he showed to others throughout his life. His legacy of service and hard work will continue to live on in the many lives he touched.
John is survived by his daughter, Miranda “Randy” O’Keefe; his son-in-law, Brian O’Keefe; and his beloved grandson, Brady O’Keefe, all of Fulshear, TX.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Fyke.
John will be interred at Peace Valley Cemetery in Odin, IL at a later date, where he will rest beside his beloved wife, Janet.
