Jerry Wayne Lewis, 72, of South Houston, TX, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in Webster, TX. He was born March 30, 1944 in Oberlin, LA to Earl and Delores Lewis. Jerry grew up in Bridge City, TX where he played offensive/defensive tackle at Bridge City High School and graduated in 1962. To provide for his family, he worked as a Diesel Mechanic for 30 years at Chemical Leaman Tank Lines. He thoroughly enjoyed his family, friends, hunting and fishing, and sharing his cooking with everyone he could. He will be remembered as a caring, yet firm, father – “Dad” to his sons and “Daddy” to his daughter. He was a doting grandfather and great grandfather – “Po-Po” to many children, and lovingly as “fishing Papa” by his grandson Conner. He was faithful to attend every family event – rain or shine, in good health or in poor health. He is preceded in death by his parents; Earl and Delores Lewis and his sister Retha Vidrine. He is survived by his children: Terry Lewis; James Lewis and his wife, Julie and their son, Conner; Jennifer Lewis and her son, Landon. Brother in law JD Vidrine and his children: Donnie, Tony, Derek, and Tyson Vidrine and their families. He is also survived by his devoted and loving companion of 20-plus years, Debbie Clemons; her children: Roger, Kendra and her husband, Mike, Ben and his wife, Amanda; grandchildren: Jessica, Caitlin, Madison, Ryan, Maggie, Ava; great-grandchildren: Londyn, Hartley, Annalee, and Ruxson. A ‘Celebration of Life’ memorial service will be held at Clear Lake Church of the Nazarene, 14310 Galveston Rd, Webster, TX 77598 at 2pm, Saturday, July 30, 2016.
