
Dr. Janice Barbara Marek, 70, passed away on July 3, 2026. She was born on October 9, 1955, in Houston, Texas, to Milton Sr. and Irene Marek. Janice was a loving and devoted sister and aunt. She earned her Doctorate in Education from the University of Houston and dedicated many years of service to Klein ISD, where she began her career as a teacher and advanced to principal and Assistant Superintendent. She was known for her high standards, unwavering professionalism, and exemplary leadership. To her family, she was our Diva—the epitome of glamour and poise, dressed in her famous leopard print and fabulous heels. She cherished her nieces as though they were her own, adored her beloved pets, and never passed up the opportunity to rescue an animal in need. She was also one heck of a domino player.
Janice is survived by her siblings, Jennifer Marek, Milton Marek Jr. (Ann), Jayne McEntire (RB), Edward Marek, and Paul Marek (Tina); her nieces, Natalie Sansom (Paul), Molly Rawls (Ben), Haley Amenson (Alex), Sophie Marek, Samantha Marek, and Alyssa Marek; her great-niece, Brooke Rawls; her great-nephew, James Sansom; as well as many loving extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
