James Newman

Jim was born on July 25, 1958, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Verne and Margaret Newman. He lived in Illinois and Indiana until he moved to Houston in 1976, where he worked for Rice Vending, Ice Masters, Motorcars Ltd., and Warehouse Lift. For many years in the 1990s and 2000s, Jim was active in the Texas Renaissance Festival as a shop employee and as a roving performance artist.

Jim was preceded in death by both parents, sisters Vicki Polczynski and Julie Graham, and brothers Charles William (“Bill”) Newman and Jerry Newman. He is survived by his sister Laura Newman, daughter Debra Mcdannel of Kentland, Indiana, son Ben Newman of Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

At Jim’s request, his ashes will be scattered on Somerville Lake, where he enjoyed boating with family and friends.
