

James is survived by his son James Mattly and Daughter-In-Law Mary Caroline of San Jose, daughter Callie Kuehler and Son-In-Law Brandon of Katy; 3 Grandchildren, Daria Mattly, London and Sebastian Kuehler, and his partner Carol Mol. he is preceded in death by his wife Diane Mattly, Mother Metta Combs, and Father James L. Mattly.
James was born on December 6th, 1941 in Bakersfield, CA to James L. Mattly and Metta Combs. During the Vietnam War, Jim was a pilot in the US Navy on the USS Coral Sea with Squadron VA-155. After his Naval service, he went on to attend Berkley and in In 1973 graduated from Harvard University with his MBA. Jim created a name in the private equity arena, becoming CEO of Loomis, Fargo, & Co. and on the board of directors of several companies though his career.
Too long after his service, Jim and Squadron VA- 155 were awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for their service during the war. Along with his wife Diane, Jim became an advocate for the animals and raised funds for a new shelter for Citizens for Animal Protection. Diane and he spent their time traveling to exotic locals, Africa being their favorite. Jim enjoyed his downtime flying, tinkering with his trains, and spending time with his grandkids and family.
Services for Jim will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral home in the Texas Liberty Mausoleum on January 26th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to Citizens for Animal Protection in his name.
