James Michael Lowery

James Michael "Mike" Lowery, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 10, 1951, in Gatesville, Texas, Mike was the cherished son of James and Gladys Lowery. His life was a testament to the values of faith, family, and hard work, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Mike graduated from Van Vleck High School in 1970 and pursued higher education at Sam Houston State University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. His professional journey saw him excel in the oil and gas industry, where he dedicated 40+ years before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of integrity and dedication.

On November 16, 1978, Mike married the love of his life, Melissa "Missy" Lowery. Together, they created a loving home and raised two wonderful children, Michael (Heath) Lowery married to Jessica Lowery and Jamee Lowery McClure married to Matthew McClure. Mike's heart was filled with pride for his family, and he was especially delighted to be known as "Pops" to his grandson, Levi McClure. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Mike was a man of many passions, including golfing and hunting, with a particular love for fishing. He was strong in his faith, a dedicated Christian. Mike loved to share stories and was always ready with a joke to brighten the day. His humor and wit were his trademarks, endearing him to friends and family alike.

In addition to his wife, Missy, and his children, Mike leaves behind his siblings, Clint Lowery married to Becky Lowery and Susie Matchett married to Larry Matchett as well as numerous family members, who will forever hold him dear in their hearts. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Gladys Lowery and his brother, Paul Lowery.

Mike's life will be celebrated privately, in a ceremony reserved for close family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Champion Forest Baptist Church.

Though he has departed from this world, Mike's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will continue to inspire those who knew him. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all whose lives he touched.
